Frequently asked
The questions we get most.
Plain answers about the hub, the app, the AI, and what works with what. If something is not here, write to us.
The product
What Reetle is, and what it isn't.
What exactly is Reetle?
A snap-on hub for your smartphone with a 3.97-inch E-Ink touchscreen on the back, its own battery, and one physical power button. Recording starts with a tap on its screen. It records meetings, reads documents, and carries your to-do list, without you needing to unlock the front of your phone.
Is it a phone case?
No. It snaps onto the back of your phone, but it is smaller than the phone itself and it is not there for protection. It has a screen, a button, its own battery, and pairs with our AI-powered app. We call it a hub: a second screen that works with your phone, not a case around it.
How thick and how heavy?
5.4 millimeters thin. 65 grams. You feel it the first day, then forget it is there.
Does it drain my phone's battery?
No. The hub has its own 1100 mAh battery, independent of your phone. Recording, reading, and the always-on to-do display all run on the hub's power.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 11 hours of continuous use, 8 hours of continuous recording, and over a month of standby. In normal use, you charge it a few times a month.
Can it charge my phone?
No. The hub's 1100 mAh battery powers the hub only: the recording, the reading, the always-on display. It neither drains your phone nor charges it. If you need a power bank, bring a power bank; this is a second screen, not a battery pack.
Is the E-Ink screen colour or black-and-white?
Black-and-white. 480 x 800 pixels, 235 PPI. It is built for reading, not for video. The trade-off is what makes it eye-friendly and battery-efficient.
Using it
How it actually works, day to day.
How do I record a meeting?
Tap the record control on the hub's screen. It starts recording; tap again to stop. There is no phone to unlock and no menu to dig through. After the meeting, sync the recording to the app and the AI transcribes and summarises it for you.
How do I control the screen?
By touch. Taps and swipes turn pages, switch cards, and start a recording. The single physical button is the power button. Anything deeper (choosing books, editing transcripts, managing tasks) you do in the app on your phone.
Do I have to take the hub off to charge?
The hub charges through its own USB-C port, separately from your phone, and with over a month of standby that is a rare job. USB-C is the only way it charges; there is no wireless charging.
Can I read in the dark?
The E-Ink screen does not have its own backlight. Like a Kindle Basic or a printed book, you need ambient light. The trade-off is no eye strain on long sessions.
Will it interfere with calls, NFC, or my phone's cameras?
No. The hub is designed to leave the camera array, microphone, speaker grilles, and NFC zone clear. Apple Pay, FaceTime, and the cameras all work exactly as before.
App, AI and privacy
The intelligence is in the app.
Is the app free?
App pricing is confirmed at launch. What we can already say: the AI features (transcription, summaries, mind maps) run on a subscription, and there is no free AI quota. We would rather say that plainly here than surprise you inside the app. Final pricing is confirmed at launch.
Which languages does the transcription support?
Over 100 languages, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Polish, and Romanian. Accuracy is highest with clear single-speaker audio; noisy rooms and very strong accents reduce it, the way they do for any AI transcription.
Where is my recording stored? Who can see it?
By default, audio is processed by AI partners in the cloud so the transcription, summary, and to-do list can be generated. For sensitive conversations, switch to Private Mode. The recording stays on the device, and nothing is sent to the cloud. We do not sell or share recordings, ever.
Is it GDPR compliant?
Yes. The app is built for European data rules. You can delete a recording, a transcript, or your whole account from the app, and the data is removed from our systems. The full privacy policy is on the privacy page.
Can I export the transcripts?
Yes. Transcripts and summaries export as plain text, Word, Markdown, or PDF. Action items can be sent to email or copied into the to-do app you already use.
Does the AI replace a professional transcription service?
No. AI transcription is great for your own notes, meetings, and study material. For legal, medical, or anything that needs a certified human record, hire a transcriber. We will not pretend otherwise.
Compatibility
What works with what.
Which phones is Reetle compatible with?
The iPhone series and selected Android models. We publish the tested model list before any order ships, so we never promise a fit we have not checked.
Does it work with Android phones?
Select Android models, yes. The supported Android models are published in the same list as the iPhone ones, before any order ships.
What file formats does the reader support?
EPUB, PDF, and TXT. Send anything from your phone in one tap.
Does it work with MagSafe accessories?
No. The hub does not support MagSafe charging or MagSafe accessories. It attaches with its own magnets and charges only through its USB-C port.
Can I use it with AirPods or Bluetooth headphones?
Yes. The hub does not interfere with your phone's Bluetooth. AirPods, headphones, smartwatches, and car audio all connect to your phone exactly as they did before.
